Astral Projection Experiences (Level: Basic to Medium)

I'd like to know about one of your experiences on Astral Projection.


1. How you managed to do it, and your difficulties.

2. What happened.

3. Your interpretations of what happened.

4. Your fears if any.


For starting, I'll tell you about one of my Astral Projection experiences, which was around 1,5 years ago.

I had been practicing Astral Projection as well as I could at the time. The difficulties I was facing were related to achieving willingly the right state of mind to do it, the so called "Alpha State" or "Hypnagogic State". I didn't have the necessary skill to get into that state of mind any time I wanted. Since my childhood I've been sleeping in the bed right beside the bed
of one of my kindest biological family members: my brother. At the time I was also reading on Astral Vampirism, and was expecting to try this skill the next time I would make an Astral Projection. And I did so:
After achieving the right state, I projected into the astral, and moved myself to my brother's bed, and I simply fed. Something really interesting, is that I didn't want to harm him, so I was very conscious feeding on him, but also from the perspective of my physical place. I was both on the astral, feeding on him, and looking at him physically from my bed, to see if I was harming him.

Looking behind it was a rather silly happening, but it was very enriching. I eventually discovered more about the subject.

I see that you are, dearest Karnath. So this once I'll enlighten you.

The only time I was aware of entering the Astral was a couple of months ago. I wasn't asleep at the time, but awake. I was talking with my partner about some things and it just..happened. I could tell that my soul was in the Astral because it felt at home but in a way...distant, like it wasn't yet still here in my body entirely on this plane as usual. I was shocked at first and then I sensed my partner was there as well. We probably weren't completly in the Astral but probably being close.

I still can't explain how we both got into the Astral that way. Could be the state we were in and all and thinking deeply about things. Suffice to say while we were there we....took advantage of the opportunity to be together, I will not go into detail.

My fears...mmmm....at the time I didn't feel any fears because I was with my partner. If I did have any it would probably be of psychic attack.

So there you have it, hope you all can pull anything from that and I hope that satisfied your cuirosity, dear Karnath. =]

Those are quite interesting experiences. It can be extremely difficult to master astral projection, I believe.

Can you tell me, Karnath and Helliana, what you each used, to teach yourself, and learn astral projection from?

I project to the astral realm on a regular basis. I use deep meditation with projection intent and Will to get out of the body. I do many things while on the astral, but mostly I go visit astral locations, explore the spaces and play with the energies around me. Sometimes I interact with other identities too, but I try to avoid it.

Can I ask you if there is a definitive book or some source available that will explain and train you for entering the Astral plane and other planes of existence?

There are several books and sources that rely on a multitude of techniques for astral projection. It is a pretty vast subject and many people accomplish it differently. I would never say there is a definitive technique or right way to enter the astral. Use whatever suits best for you. But don't confuse dreaming state with astral realm, many people do that. Same goes for imagination. The astral is not within our minds, so try to make a clear distinction between what your mind can imagine and what it is a true projection.

Robert Bruce has a nice book called Astral Dynamics that is widely used on astral projection training. You can read it, but still most of what he says on it you can find it online for free if you have the time to properly research it and try it out. The key in astral projection is practice. It takes effort and especially lots of time to master. Some people accomplish it more easily and others never find a way to do it. We all have our skills, and they vary greatly from one to another.

Although I always had some usual experiences at night, some natural skills, Robert Bruce's online guides were very valuable. He hasn't a very deep writing, not very spiritual... But he is useful. But only with training can one master this skill.

I have read the online guides for astral projection, from Robert Bruce, as you said. I can agree that his writing is not so deep or spiritual, but it is quite helpful for anyone only starting to learn about this subject.

I'm not really sure how it happened, I guess something to do with my partner was part of it. I haven't got to the astral projection field yet as I'm learning other things right now, but When I get there I'll be sure to come back here and tell what I've learned and my experiences. =]

Dearest Aghrab,

Your question indicates that you possibly might have experience in OBE techniques. How successful have you become with your attempts to leave your body and, at this point, how much control would you say you how have in your travels? (I guess I sound like the very first post that raised the question, don't I)

Also, I want to mention the Monroe Institute. Their program has largely been succussful with in-house direction help as well as selling tapes and CDs which help your astral separate using different tones in each ear. Robert Monroe, now deceased, was responsible for this study and his books are all a result of his efforts regarding study with these different sets of tones.

Also, this being my first post after joining this group, I would like to say I appreciate the tone that has been set here. All seem very polite and unlike other boards I have found, there does not seem to be an attempt of the pecking order here to take over. All seem to be polite and interested in learning from each other. I will also say that I am older than dirt but I still realize I could learn from a youngster. Again, I appreciate this forum.

1. How you managed to do it.

I seem to have more succuss with OBE by sitting up in a lounge chair with my head supported by a pillow and a sleep mask to darken the room, wether is is day or night. I have sleep apnia so sitting upright is best for me. About two in the afternoon I decided to try to focus and travel to a female person I know in prison in Calif. Sitting crosslegged, I did relaxation technique similar to first stages of hypnosis. Intense and constant focus is very important. Next thing I see is my astral body flying out of my physical all in an instant. I was then aware of being in a stairwell in a bldg. viewing the female washing windows and looking out over the prison yard. I then see her leaning up against the wall next to bunk beds viewing a magazine or book showing clothes. She seemed to be spending more time on a red print dress. Next thing I am aware of is that I am standing in front of a group of females who were looking at me strange. I asked where this female was as I did not see her. One replied to me that a guard had sent for her and she had gone to see the guard. I then am aware of myself back in my physical although I did not see this process. Looking at the clock, I see that 20 minutes have passed.

3. Your interpretation of what happened.

The next day a person was visiting in my home when the phone rang. It was a collect call from the prison and the female calling me. In the conversation I began to ask what she did yesterday and her reply to me of all three views I had made of her. She freaked out as I told her about her spending time over the red print dress as she really liked it. She verified all three views and is now frightened of me. LOL. I cannot explain the situation of the group answering my question about where she was. (I have in the past visited others whereby I have read their mind about their thoughts without asking anything of them then asking their mate questions about the thoughts coming into being which were verified. This tells me that there are no secrets from the Vampire at all as reading the mind can be as simple as the OBE.) In my own opinion, nothing matters if I cannot verify anything I am involved with. If I cannot, then I put it aside as it may be verified later but never use it until I find comfirmation.

4. Your fears if any.

There should not be any fear at all as this seems to be a natural state. It is one also that we are wanting to be involved with so fear is not part of this.

Hello Maxx, and welcome to the community.

Good question. I believe if any of my attempts of astral travel were successful, and not just my mind playing tricks, as it usually happens when imagination takes over, my control over the experience is not yet strong enough. Only practice makes such things perfect.

Thank you for the kind welcome.

Your mention of control, "my control over the experience is not yet strong enough" is the item I feel I have most need of. Please do not think I am one to present myself as being an authority in OBE. I do not even begin to register on the meter as one of any knowledge in the field and consider myself a novice or beginner. But what you have brought to light is a valuble factor in control by being able to awaken within the dream and realize that one is dreaming and then decide to change things within that dream. Also, I place value upon verification of anything I see or find in night work. That way I tear apart the mind playing tricks.

Also, might I ask a question of you since I find your line of questioning one of deep insight from your other posts.

What is your view of the difference between OBE or astral projection and remote viewing?

Again, a good question. If I have experienced conscious OBE (out of body experience) throughout my practices, and again, not just the mind playing it's tricks, I tend to compare OBE to a 'light sleep', where I am still quite aware of my surrounding in my physical body. As for astral projection, I find it to be more dynamic and quite different from OBE, certainly. I believe with enough Will and focus, during astral projection, I may just be able to increase my control over the experience. I, however, rarely realize, in a dream, that I am dreaming, to be able to control the experience or to convert it into an astral projection.
