Aset - the Great Mother
So much talk has being revolving around Aset Ka and Asetians, yet it seem the very Creatrix of the Race has being neglected. To truly understand Asetian (the children) one must understand the Mother..
I am going to start this thread by posting an ineresting link I just found on line:
http://www.philae.nu/philae/KemAset.html
It has many tabs with great information for your amusement and education.

Re: Aset - the Great Mother
Empress, another good page from the same site:
http://www.philae.nu/akhet/PhilaeAsettemple.html
I concur that proper devotion to Her Highness Aset is often lost in the intrigue of vampirism and the common fascination of who and what the AK is or might be. Sad, actually.
The truth be known, I am more drawn to the AK as a feeling of family with our Mother rather than vampirism or magick.

I have visited this site before... hoping to visit in person in the not too far future.
I understand the temple was built long after the AK was established in Egypt as a major cult?

Re: Aset - the Great Mother
Syrianeh, my understanding (without checking the dates for accuracy) is that most of the Philae temples were built during the late Ptolomeic and early Roman periods. Since the Sem Tepy was pre-dynastic I would agree - although Aset was not mentioned as a signifcant goddess until post pyramid dynasties.

Re: Aset - the Great Mother
Thanks for the answer, Phoenix.
Apparently the latest AK reunion (during which most of the photos in the Kemet photography book were taken) took place in Egypt, and that included the Temple of Philae. I don't have the book yet, but that's what I inferred. So that makes me think that this temple has special meaning to them regardless of how "recent" it is.

Re: Aset - the Great Mother
Phoenix is right when he refers that most of the current structures found in Philae date from later Ptolomeic periods. In fact, its Roman influence is expressed within the Asetian Bible, when they define the end of the Djehuty of the Hawk by a Roman Emperor, around 500 AD. This traces the last religious usage of the temple to that time. However, it is my belief that the Philae Temple foundations are much older, and trace its origins far back, where the island of Philae was more than just a temple, but also a palace of the Asetian Empire. I have read about this somewhere, but now I am not sure where, to be precise. Maktub's input on this subject would be precious at this point...

Re: Aset - the Great Mother
Just an FYI for those who do not know this. The temple structures on Philae were relocated to another, higher elevation island about 30 years ago. This was to prevent further deterioration from flooding caused by the dam below the first cataract.

Yeah that was a big rescue project, supported by UNESCO.
What do you think that the moving of the temple structures might have done in terms of metaphysical influence and energy?

When the structure was build many physical and metaphysical were considered. Let's just hope that they've had some energy senstive people on board of that project...
Otherwise, it spells major problem.

I concur with Empress. I think serious energy was lost by taking the temple of Philae.
